PowerPoint 2024 for PC
For building and presenting slides, Microsoft PowerPoint 2024 for PC covers it on its own. Microsoft lists PowerPoint Designer as a cloud-backed feature that isn’t included, which is worth knowing if you’ve used it before.
Outlook 2024 for PC
If email and calendar are what you need, Microsoft Outlook 2024 for PC is sold on its own. Two notes from Microsoft: some search functionality in Outlook for Windows requires Windows Search, and certain advanced functionality may require connectivity to a supported version of Microsoft Exchange Server (or Exchange Online) or Microsoft SharePoint Server (or SharePoint Online).
Access 2024 for PC

What every standalone Office 2024 app has in common
Whichever app you pick, the same rules apply as for the suites:
- One-time purchase of a classic app. Office 2024 is a one-time purchase that comes with classic versions of apps like Word, Excel and PowerPoint for one PC or Mac.
- Internet to set up, then now and then. Internet is required to redeem and associate Office with your Microsoft account, to activate the app, and periodically to keep the app activated.
- An account for the license. A Microsoft account or organizational account is required for license assignment.
- No Microsoft 365 services or cloud-backed features. Microsoft’s examples are OneDrive, Exchange Online and SharePoint Online for services, and PowerPoint Designer and Data Types in Excel for features.
- VBA support. Office 2024 continues to support VBA, which matters for Excel and Access users with macros.
- 32-bit and 64-bit. Office 2024 supports both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows.
PC system requirements
Here is what Microsoft lists for all Office 2024 apps, in suites or as standalones:
- Processor: 1.1 GHz or faster, 2-core.
- Memory: 4 GB of RAM.
- Storage: 4 GB of available disk space.
- Display: 1280 x 768 screen resolution (64-bit Office is required for 4K and higher).
- Graphics: hardware acceleration requires a Direct3D 9.1 or higher graphics adapter with a WDDM 1.3 or higher driver.
- .NET: some features may require .NET 3.5 or 4.6 and higher.
