Windows Server 2022 Standard: 16 Core

Windows Server 2022 Standard is Microsoft’s Long-Term Servicing Channel server OS with security hardened from the firmware up. It suits file and application servers, Active Directory and virtualization for small and mid-sized businesses.

Licensing basics (per Microsoft)

• Licensed per physical core, with a minimum of 8 core licenses per processor and 16 per server. This 16-core license covers a server with up to 16 physical cores.
• With all cores licensed, Standard edition allows 2 virtual machines (or 2 Hyper-V-isolated containers), plus one Hyper-V host used only to run them, and unlimited Windows Server containers.
• CALs are required for each user or device that accesses the server and are sold separately.

• Processor: 1.4 GHz 64-bit, x64 compatible, with NX/DEP, CMPXCHG16b, LAHF/SAHF, PrefetchW and SLAT support
• Memory: 2 GB for Server with Desktop Experience; ECC recommended for physical hosts
• Storage: 32 GB minimum
• Network: Gigabit (1 Gbps) Ethernet adapter
• Secured-core additionally needs TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, VBS, IOMMU/DMA protection and DRTM-capable hardware
